Yongbieocheonga(Song of Praise for the Founding of the Joseon)

The first book ever written in Hangeul, Songs of Dragons Flying to Heaven is an invaluable resource for studying the language and literature of the fifteenth century. It consists of an epic song with 125 cantos, describing how the Joseon Dynasty was founded by divine providence. The song, which was reportedly sung at court banquets, provides a wealth of background information about the royal lineage, detailing the lives of King Sejong’s direct ancestors, including his father King Taejong, his grandfather King Taejo, and four preceding generations.
