Inkstone Table

An inkstone box is placed next to a writing desk to keep inkstone, inkstick, and waterdroppers in one place. This box has a top compartment with cover which was used for keeping inkstone, and the cover is kept on when not in use to prevent the accumulation of dust and to appear tidy and organized. There is a drawer underneath the top compartment, but it is less visible as the dark marks of persimmon wood on the drawer and upper compartment appear to be connected. The four sides of the base have large openings with cusp edging, and the corner posts and bottom panel are made of pear wood for storing up books or stationery.
