Gilt-bronze Bhaisajyaguru Buddha

Characterized by the small medicine bowl in the left hand, this sculpture depicts Bhaisajyaguru Buddha, the “Medicine Buddha” who is believed to heal the sick. During the Unified Silla period, people fervently prayed to Bhaisajyaguru Buddha to free them from all types of suffering related to war, disease, and ignorance.
