Gilt-bronze Miniature Pagoda

Gilt-bronze Miniature Pagoda
Representing an offering to Buddha, this gilt-bronze pagoda, 74.5 cm in height, was likely enshrined inside the halls of a temple to serve as a sarira container. Rising from the square platform, the body has eleven tiers, culminating in an elaborate finial. On one side of the platform, there are steps leading up to the body. The lowest story of the body has a latticed railing on all four sides, with the Four Heavenly Kings standing at the four corners.
