Cylinder seal with cultic scene

Chalcedony seal depicting a statue of the goddess Ishtar in the center of canopied enclosure. Stars emanate from her crown, crossed quivers, and her body. Before her is a kneeling worshipper and two genies flank and protect the enclosure. This style of modelled carving was common in the Neo-Assyrian period and has roots in the Middle Assyrian period (ca. 1400 – 1100 BCE).
