Cylinder seal with contest scenes

Marble Early Dynastic cylinder seal with a contest scene. Competitions are a frequently represented on cylinders, as the unbounded nature of the composition plays up the sense of animation. Oftentimes the animals rear up on their front or hind legs, and the so-called master of animals standing between them, holding the beasts captive by grasping a horn or limb.
