Jar with human figure design

One of the most revered types of Chinese ceramics is blue-and-white porcelain, wherein a plain white porcelain vessel is painted with diverse patterns in cobalt pigment, which was imported from West Asia, and then covered with transparent glaze before firing. Made in the Jingdezhen kilns during the Yuan period, this jar features a variety of soft and elaborate designs. Pine, bamboo, and plum tree motifs are painted on the mid-body, with a chrysanthemum scroll pattern above and a lotus petal pattern below.
