Lady in male attire holding a hawk

This figurine depicts a lady falconer wearing men’s clothes originating from the northern nomadic culture, complete with a headdress called putou. Her robe is characterized by wide lapels, tight sleeves and a belt around the waist, indicating that it originated from the Turks. During the Tang Period (618-907), when China welcomed foreign culture, particularly that of the northern nomadic tribes, garments such as this robe gained great popularity even among women.
