Mr. Shin Jeong Nam donated the nine-volume register of a branch of the Pyeongsan Shin clan. This branch register was a part of the register of the entire Pyeongsan Shin clan, but was later printed separately to show only the descendents of Shin GuMunhuigong. The branch register starts with the preface and the epilogue of the original register of the entire clan, which was published in 1873, and ends with a record of the working-level people who compiled the original clan register. Among them are Shin Heon and Shin Jeong-hui, both of the Munhuigong branch. Shin Heon wrote the epilogue of the clan register, and his son Shin Jeong-hui assisted in its proofreading. The father and son played an important role in establishing a modern military system toward the end of the Joseon period. The register has historical significance as it enlightens us on clan register publication in the 19th century in Korea.
