This item of furniture, called a meoritjang, or bedside chest, is made of red toon and maple wood, and was used to store bedclothes on its top board. It has three drawers with loop handles, each of whose interior is divided into four compartments. Inside the lower panel of each drawer is a secret space for storage, which is accessible only after a drawer is completely removed from the chest. The legs are decorated with bat-shaped “wind holes”.
