This gilt-bronze Buddha statue was discovered in the square hole made in the central foundation stone laid to support the core column of the Five-story Stone Pagoda in Wanggung-ri, Iksan of Jeollabuk-do. The discovery revealed that the Buddhist statue was enshrined in the pagoda as an offering to Buddha. The image is molded with the pedestal and attached with a full body mandorla expressed with an openwork scroll and flame design. The Buddha wears a single outer robe draped across both shoulders, with Y-shaped folds.
