This painting by Jeong Seon (1676-1759, pen-name: Gyeomjae,) portrays a story about Cheng Yi (1033-1107), a Confucian scholar of the Song Dynasty of China. When his disciples paid a visit to his house, the master was in pensive mood with his eyes closed. They waited outside in knee-deep snow rather than interrupt him. The master’s room is portrayed brightly in yellow.
