Yun Geup (1697-1770) was a high-ranking literati official during the late Joseon period who became famous for his unique calligraphy style. This portrait portrays him in official robes. His belt is a type reserved for first-grade officials, so the portrait appears to have been painted around 1762 since he reached this rank at the age of 66. Yun Geup poses with his face turned slightly right. The area near the face is painted slightly dark to create a three-dimensional effect. It is an excellent piece that exquisitely portrays his facial features, such as the wart below his mouth, dark spots on his face, and his reddish skin tone. The chair, the flower-patterned mat, and the footrest are portrayed strikingly realistically.
