According to Gaoli tujing (Illustrated Account of Goryeo), a 12th century volume authored by an envoy from the Song Dynasty, Goryeo Buddhists treasured kundika bottles as religious vessels for storing pure water. This particular vessel decorated with a peaceful waterside scene of willows and a happy brace of mandarin ducks displays a remarkable similarity with the bronze kundika with a landscape design inlaid in silver (National Treasure No. 92).
