Originally a formal garment worn by empresses and queens in ancient China, a jeogui, or queen’s ceremonial robe, was introduced to Korea during the late Goryeo Period. This embroidered pattern for a ceremonial robe features pheasants aligned in pairs facing each other against a light blue background, floral patterns in four different colors arranged between each pair of pheasants, and a dragon and cloud design along the hem.
