This is a book published towards the end of the Goryeo Dynasty and the early Joseon Dynasty, based on the original edition compiled in 1381 in the Ming Dynasty at the order of Emperor Taizu. “Hongmu” (Hongwu in Chinese) refers to the reign of Emperor Taizu. The book was used as a guideline for national rituals until the enactment of Gukjo-oryeui (Book on the Five Rites of State) during the reign of King Sejong in the early Joseon Dynasty.
