Samguksagi (History of the Three Kingdoms) is a history book compiled by notable Confucian scholars including Kim Bu-sik (1075-1151) by royal command in 1145 (the 23rd year of the reign of King Injong of the Goryeo Dynasty). The work, which details the history of the Three Kingdoms (Goguryeo, Baekje, and Silla) and Unified Silla in a biographical style, was compiled considering the importance of the country’s independence, although it betrays a penchant for compilation based on Confucian causes, worship of the powerful, and strict moralism.
