Scholars would place this type of table next to a desk in order to keep diverse items including inkstones, ink sticks, and water droppers. The surface of the table is adorned with bamboo pieces cut to a regular size. The top is decorated with the Chinese character “福” (pronounced “bok,” meaning blessing) made of thin bamboo pieces, and glowing patterns adorn the body of the table.
