This is a collection of writings by six loyal retainers (namely, Kim Si-seup, Won Ho, Yi Maeng-jeon, Jo Ryeo, Seong Dam-su, and Nam Hyo-on) who resigned from their government positions in silent protest against Prince Suyang’s (later King Sejo) seizure of the throne from his nephew King Danjong (r. 1452 – 1455). They remained in their houses and refrained from going outside. Six other loyal retainers also spoke out against the coup and lost their lives as a result.
