This silver bowl, which was found beneath the cornerstone of the Nine-story Wooden Pagoda of Hwangnyongsa Temple, was used in prayers for safety by suppressing the gi (vital force) of the earth. It was unearthed along with a bronze lidded bowl, a silver lidded bowl, a mirror, scissors, and curved jades among other relics. Lotus patterns are exquisitely engraved on the top and the bottom of the lid.
