This painting was made on a long scroll in order to portray the procession of a high-ranking official arriving at a new post. It is regarded as a valuable documentary painting of the Joseon period. The Chinese characters on the left describe that it was painted by Kim Hong-do at the request of a person named Ak San-heon. The local official arriving at his new post in Alleung was Ak’s father. The differences in the brushstrokes between various segments of the painting suggest that it might in fact have been the work of multiple painters.
