This painting portrays Chibifu (a poem about Chibi in Hubei Province) composed by Su Shi, a well-known writer of the Northern Song Dynasty of China. Paintings such as this one reflect the high esteem in which Su Shi’s literature was held during the Goryeo and Joseon periods. The shape of the mountains and the dense forest portrayed in the painting are similar to the style displayed in An Gyeon’s Mongyu dowondo (Dream of Strolling in a Peach Garden).
